Hmmm...

A former co-woker of mine commented on Jack in the WNMC photo post...she mentioned how he looks like me, which I think is great. So I was messing around in photoshop, I copied my beard color and as a joke painted some facial hair on Jack.
This is what happened...

I don't know if he looks like me as much as he looks like my Dad.
I joke and tremble from time to time as I feel like I am turning into my Dad, which isn't a terrible thing, but these pics kinda make me think that it is a generational thing...

Sleepy Cats

Just so you all don't think we have forgotten about our cats...

Stand Up!

These are from today, I was goofing around with Jack (imagine!) and I held him up and let him sorta support himself. He is pushing up in these pics, no funny business.
There is nothing, NOTHING, like doing something and getting a smile out of Jack.
My new thing is to dance for him while he is on the changing table, today I danced with him to Linus & Lucy off of the 'Boy Named Charlie Brown' CD that I played in the hospital the day he was born.

Walkin'....

Debbie returned to work on Monday and Moms came up to lend a hand and help us readjust. She left this evening and helped us survive this brutal heatwave, it got up about 84 in the house and it was BRUTAL! Anyhoo we went for a walk down to the East Bay Park, which is where these photos come from.
Mom wanted me to not post the pic of she and Debbie walking with Jack but I posted it anyways. Get a good look cos I bet she will ask me to take it down when we see her tomorrow in Lansing.

I'm not quite sure who I look like in this photo...

Aunt Kathy

The main reason for us to head south was due to bedroom painting; Jack's room was painted peach and orange from this kinda blue that made one think of milk. Vaguely bluish white, if you can imagine something gross like that. I finished up a few more bits of the job today as well as last night and the room looks amazing. I wonder which room is next? I think we could do the pink room as the window that points west would allow for a great color explosion with the rays of the setting sun.
We also returned because Debbie's oldest sister Kathy was coming up to spend the night with us, zipping up from Holland to see the boy and have a relaxing time at our place. The only drawback in my eyes was the fact that the house was as hot as a kiln due to the weather and six adult bodies in our home. But it managed to cool off a bit and it was a very pleasant time. Jack slept for his aunt and I think she was charmed by the little(ish) guy.
Since Jack was born Debbie's folks have been over quite a bit, which is great. Now from time to time they will refer to Debbie as Kathy. This is not alarming as when Mom went to law school she looked like she had been hit with pillows for nine hours before calling me Josh or worse Melissa. But Friday the deuce was talking with kathy and he called her DEBBIE! Were it not for the renaming of my wife over the past weeks I wouldn't have thought anything of this but as it was I thought it was funny.

(I couldn't place these photos so I lumped them into this post...)

Schuler Books (and music)

Friday morning we popped into my old stomping grounds in Okemos. Hoped to catch the General Manager but her daughter was having a graduation party (I remember her as an 11 year old so that was mind twisting) so she was not there. I took some photos anyways.
I would like to say that the Coulter doll is something that she cherishes, but I know that isn't true.

This is Tiffany, the special order mastermind of the store, handling both books and music. She does not like the Grateful Dead and think that Morrissey sweats a lot.

And here we are in the Jazz section, the back wall of the music department. My two babies. Sounds stupid to say that but I used to be so proud of what I did, so proud of the department that put so much of myself into. I stood there with my son, walking around looking at the layout without really looking at the selection. I ended up in the music books section, looking out toward the DVD wall. I watched Debbie walk up from the cafe, cinnamon roll in hand, I got to thinking. About how empty the classical looked (did when I was there too) and all the thoughts and stuff from my time in there. Putting the store together in 2001. Getting hired on June 21st 2000. Meeting Debbie. Tons of memories in there, tons of good memories, tons of music.
Good times.

Oh, if you look cloesly over Jack's head you can see the latest release from Harry Connick Jr.
You know what they say about Harry Connick...
