Deepest, Darkest Lansing

After recovering from the trip and the inital bit of salt poisoning we rolled out into the woods of Lansing to visit a friend of mine. Debbie had never been to her house nor seen her cats so that was nice. We sat out on the back porch and marinated a bit in the heat, and had a great old time hanging out, traded stories and so on and so forth.
It was a fine time to visit and really enjoyed seeing her.

East Lansing

Couple of photos from our whirlwind travels downstate Thursday. Nothing extraordinary, photos of Jack with his Grandparents.
The photo Moms is holding along with Jack was taken of me, in case you wondered, at the ripe age of six and a half months. She thinks that at that time I weighed about 16 pounds. Which is close to what Jack weighs at just seven weeks.

Mom and Dad met in 1969. They married in 1972. I guess when you've been married for thirty five years and been in a relationship for 38 you do start to dress the same.

Grandpa's Office

So Thursday morning we got up and headed south, to East Lansing, so that Jack's room could be painted and the fumes would not be too much for his little nose. So we got on the road at 8am and headed south, stopping in Clare for some feeding(and some incredibly picnic table action that I won't mention) before hitting Laning in the early afternoon. The first place we went in Lansing was Dad's office for a suprise visit. I had the camera, as I do now when I travel, and got some pics of Dad and Angie, his secretary(office manager) before going to my folks house.

Uncle John

Here we have some photos from Lovells with Jack and his Uncle John.
John's given name is John Tomas and he was tickled by the fact that we named our son Jackson Thomas which is a variant of John Thomas.

On Campus

Debbie got a chance to go out on her own this evening, heading to her first ACLU meeting in a while. At least I think it was..
I didn't go, I stayed home with the boy, but when she got home we set out on a nice walk in the neighborhood.
Upon bundling up Jack for the cool weather(don't cry for us, it is supposed to be 91 on Thursday) I grabbed the ol'Fuji and out we went.
Usually we roll down towards the East Bay. Tonight I steered us onto the campus of NMC, which I didn't think Debbie had ever really walked around. Well walk it we did and she was really taken aback by the beauty on this little campus.
I took the family down the back side of the campus and I took us to the fine arts building.
Now I tried to find any history on this building, which can be seen in the later pics, and I was made to understand that it is in the Bauhaus style (black shirt with a skinny neck? no silly) and was completed in 1972. All I know about the building is that it is made of wood and smells absolutely fantastic and special inside. The decor makes one think about a sauna and it just warms my heart every time I go in there. I hadn't gone into the building since last fall (I took an Art Class on Sunday there - the proximity of the building and the building itself made the Sunday class easy to stomach). The front door was open so we got a chance to go in there, I know Debbie had never been in the building so it was nice to do.

It was a nice long walk, very pleasant and being able to get in the Fine Arts Building really brought a smile to my face. Enjoy the pics.
